Harold has never quite felt like the other caterpillars. Harold doesn’t mind though, he knows everything will be okay when he turns into a butterfly…

Born from a therapy session in 2020 and a meditation where I pretended to be a worm, “Harold” Is the full-length picture book I developed for my BFA in illustration thesis. I developed all of the illustrations with copper etchings, and is a project I completely gave into throughout the course of over a year. I hope Harold’s story can resonate and make a kid, or adult feel seen someday.

The book was exhibited at the Emily Carr University 2025 Grad Show alongside 3 of the original copper etchings. I had the privilege of doing an out-loud story-time, and sharing this project with Professors, parents, students and kids.
